When Life Feels Too Heavy: A Gentle Perspective from the Middle of the Storm

Some days just hit hard.

Yesterday was one of those days for me.

I felt overwhelmed, emotional, and honestly, a little discouraged. I've been working so hard to build my coaching business and support my family. But when the financial pressure starts to mount, and everything around me demands more than I feel I have to give, it can feel like the weight of the world is on my shoulders.

I'm doing this journey mostly on my own, and while I love creating a beautiful life for my daughters, sometimes the practical side of it all gets heavy. Really heavy.

But I want to share something—not from a place of having it all figured out, but from right here in the middle of the mess—because I know I'm not the only one who’s been here.

1. Your emotions are valid—and they can be a gift.

I let myself feel it all. The frustration. The pressure. The sadness. The longing for things to be easier.

And from that raw space, something beautiful showed up: my voice.

I realized I could use this very moment—the stress, the emotion—as fuel for something meaningful. As a coach and a writer, some of my best work comes when I stop trying to push through and just tell the truth.

If you're in a hard season, don’t shut your emotions down. Listen to them. Let them speak. They might just show you what matters most.

2. You don’t have to fix everything at once. Just meet the moment.

Sometimes the next right step isn’t solving your whole life. Sometimes it’s making a phone call. Or taking a deep breath. Or going for a drive just to give your heart space to settle.

I'm in the middle of securing short-term housing for my daughters and me this summer—something I thought would be simple but turned out to be more complex. So I made a decision: I’ll give it a dedicated time block each day, but I won’t let it take over my entire life.

If you’re overwhelmed, zoom out. What needs your attention right now? What can wait until tomorrow?

3. There is still good in the middle of the chaos.

Here’s something surprising: I realized this summer disruption can become a creative opportunity. A sort of mini-retreat. I can use that time away from home to write, reflect, and build new content for my coaching work.

Even in the disruption, there's room for beauty. Sometimes we just have to reframe the situation.

What if the interruption in your life is actually an invitation?

4. This moment won’t last forever.

A few years from now, this will just be a story. A memory. Just like the other seasons I thought would undo me—they softened over time. They became proof that I was stronger than I realized.

So if you’re in a hard season, hang in there. You’ve made it through before, and you will again. This isn't your whole life—it’s just one part of the story.

And who knows? It might turn into one of the most meaningful chapters yet.

Let Me Leave You with This

You don’t have to be perfect.
You don’t have to be calm all the time.
You just have to keep showing up—with honesty, with love, and with a little bit of faith that the next step will appear.

Even if it’s messy.
Even if it’s slow.
Even if it doesn’t look the way you hoped.

There’s still meaning here.
And maybe even joy.

You’ve got this. And you’re not alone. 💛
